For fans of epic sci-fi adventures, 2025 marks the long-awaited return of one of cinema’s most intriguing interplanetary heroes with the release of John Carter 2. After more than a decade of speculation and hope following the release of the original John Carter in 2012, Disney has finally greenlit a sequel that promises to delve deeper into the mysteries and wonders of Barsoom (Mars).
John Carter, directed by Andrew Stanton, was an ambitious adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic series, A Princess of Mars. Although praised for its visual effects, imaginative world-building and gripping performances, the film struggled at the box office due to marketing challenges and stiff competition.
